Lakefront Property: Saranac

pvm - Just checked into an old-time motel just southwest of Lake Placid. Too late to see what the area looks like, but the stars are out and it's a bit too cold for us (ahhhh, too bad that it's not 75 degrees anymore, right?) A perfect day weatherwise has spoiled us today. Another great day of seeing things and of learning things. Now that we've found a wireless connection, we can add a few more bits n pieces about Day Five later this evening.

Sunday morning: we wake up to the first gray day of the vaca. The sun is peeking through small silver slivers to the East so with luck we'll be riding into sunshine later today. We found out a few minutes ago from next door neighbors at the hotel who are from Houston, TX. 2200 miles from here (isn't it cool that vacation so often turns anonymous faces into friends just with a "good morning" or "hello"?) that Hurricane Rita's rains will be swathing their way through the midwest today / tomorrow and arcing their way into the Northeast later :-( . Looks like we better do our nature hunt the next couple days, then turn to other ideas on the limitless list of options.
