Day Three: the Roads of PA

...someone had the great idea to take these pictures at this "jock" shop. hmmmm......

Freeways. The word is almost an oxymoron. No stop signs, but few ways to really get going. Too many believe the word "free" and lose their way. Today, we freed ourselves from the quick way and drove the old roads to Cooperstown. Seems we're finally adjusting to the time zone shift. The drive along the burgs, boroughs, villages and towns (all names that I'm sure have meaning but just mean that there are a bunch of houses / stores / streets together wrapped in a name) gave us chances to see how people live (unbelievable how many people like sitting on their porches) or how commerce is different on this side of the US versus the Northwest. We each found ourselves trying to wish ourselves to a Starbucks. So far, no luck.... and no good coffee.

The winds were at our back and as we traveled the hills of PA and southern New York, the leaves chased each other across the highway in front of us. Trees are plentiful, still mostly green but the color of Fall is beginning to show itself in different places. The weather has been in the mid 80s so far, warmer than we expected. Storms are headed our way for a day or so, but the weather is still summer-like.

To be continued.
